On Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, Teva Canada was honoured to welcome the Honourable Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario; the Honourable Vijay Thanigasalam, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions; and the Honourable Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility and our local MPP, for an exclusive tour of our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The visit highlighted Teva’s ongoing commitment to pharmaceutical innovation, quality, and Canadian manufacturing excellence.
For six decades, we have been a trusted partner in Canadian healthcare, delivering high-quality, affordable medicines and advancing pharmaceutical innovation. Our Ontario operations include three facilities dedicated to manufacturing, testing, packaging, and distributing more than 260 medicines.
“Teva’s legacy in Ontario is a source of immense pride. For 60 years, we’ve been a trusted partner in Canadian healthcare, growing our footprint and capabilities to meet the evolving needs of patients,” said Michael Fournier, Vice President, Canada and New Jersey Operations. “With three facilities across the province and recent investments in advanced manufacturing technology, expanded packaging capacity, and upgraded quality control laboratory equipment, we are reaffirming our commitment to quality, innovation, and the communities we serve.”
During the tour, guests explored Teva Canada’s packaging operations, where they observed our advanced capabilities in bottling, blistering, and labeling medicines. Our high-performance packaging lines support a wide range of Canadian-manufactured products, alongside bulk packaging operations for imported medicines.
In our Quality Control Laboratories, guests saw the rigorous scientific processes that ensure the safety and quality of our medicines. Each month, our labs test hundreds of products and conduct thorough quality checks from raw materials to finished goods, all in accordance with Health Canada-approved protocols.
“Teva Canada is a great partner in our ongoing work to grow Ontario’s life science sector, creating good-paying jobs for Ontario workers and protecting our economy in the face of economic uncertainty,” said Premier Doug Ford. “I appreciated the chance to see firsthand the innovation and care that goes into every step of the work being done at Teva Canada, and the incredible ingenuity and excellence that we are fortunate to have here in Ontario.”
Teva Canada plays a vital role in supporting both the economy and health of Canadians. Our generic medicines have generated $1.4 billion in savings across Canada, improving access to treatments without compromising on quality.
We’ve also made a significant economic impact – contributing $472 million to the national GDP, supporting 5,971 full-time jobs, and generating $223 million in labour income.
“We were truly honoured to welcome Premier Ford and Ministers Thanigasalam and Cho to our facility,” said Fabien Paquette, General Manager of Teva Canada. “Their visit highlights the vital role of Canadian manufacturing in ensuring a stable, secure supply of quality medicines. We’re proud to invest in innovation and to support the health and well-being of our communities through local production.”
